SAM OBERNIK’s quite good, if a bit tricky 
Always eclectic, but never for staying where she’s put… From busking through her teenage years around her home town of Dublin and Ireland, to blagging her way across the States with a guitar, a cattle prod and a song called «I’ve got nine and a half lives»… Landed in London to record and tour with TERRY HALL of THE SPECIALS- had a family- grew up, fell back down again- furiously writing songs- formed a 12 piece band, played guitar for BRITNEY SPEARS- wrote more songs- got another band together. Whilst working on her first solo album, Sam met TIM DELUXE and they recorded club smash, IVOR NOVELLO nominated and award-winning «IT JUST WONT DO»…
After more Dance success with LINUS LOVES, MILO and TIM DELUXE, Sam began work on a new project she called BAREFOOT- inspired by performing «It just won’t do» on JO WHILEY’s live lounge. An album was born, covering big old club tunes, compiled from asking DJ’s to submit their all-time club fav’s… from Born Slippy to Ebeneezer Goode, all brass and strings, sprinkled with Jazz, Soul,and lashings of Love. PETE TONG put Barefoot’s White Lines on the film soundtrack ITS ALL GONE PETE TONG… Time Out called it «…Like Moloko doing Acid House in Berlin 1930’s… A woman supremely possessed, Obernik turns these tunes into fabulous fare fit for a smoky dive of a club…»
More recently Sam’s been on tour with BRYAN FERRY, collaborating on an array of other projects from film soundtracks to writing with and developing new pop acts.
Sam thrives in her studio, has been working on a new TIM DELUXE album, writing toplines on ALEX GAUDINO’s «Watch Out» and «Que Pasa»… Last summer was of course all about BADITUDE avec DAVE SPOON and PAUL HARRIS (of Dirty Vegas)…
Right now, Sam is working on and releasing new records with PAUL HARRIS, DADA (Matti Schwartz), DIRTY VEGAS, DAVE SPOON, SULTAN, COOLIO & YVES LAROCK, SHARAM JEY, KURD MAVERICK, JEAN CLAUDE ADES & STEVEN LEE.
