| Nominated as the Best Estonian Electronic Music Act 2008, ROTD has been in the leading front since the birth of the Estonian dance music scene. DJ Meri and P.Julm come from Tallinn, their blend of deep, tribal, tech- edged yet soulful house has become a trademark of the duo. ROTD is Estonian most successful dance music act – their original tunes and remixes are played all over the world, they have been signed under different labels, been djng many clubs across the world and their super hit “Planet Drum” was hitting first in history all three Baltic States MTV charts at once! Year 2009 was very productive for ROTD – in October they released under MUM successful album “Untitled Secret” and in November was released Estonian “Superstar” 2007 winner Birgit Õigemeel album “Teine teisel pool” which was produced also by Rulers of The Deep.
Over the years they have had releases from Ovum as “Track One”, Dirty Grooves, Elu On Mu Ilu. First release of Roger Sanchez label Stealth “Temptation”, “DJ’s Calling EP”. In 2004 the big track “Last Survivor” came out under NRK. They have remixed Shakedown “At Night”, IL Padrinos feat. Jocelyn Brown “That’s How Good Your Love Is”, Mood2Swing “Can’t Get Away From You”, Arnold Jarvis “Be Right There”, Craig Jensen “Club Lonely” (Hed Kandi), C&M Productions feat. Marcel “The Vision” (Neat Music), SerJaye’s “Mahal Kita”, SNS Project “Get Up, Bert Bevans Presents Nermin Featuring Ayah “Let Love / Keep Your Head Up High” for Soul 45, Jakatta “Shimmering Stars” which ended up in 2006 on the album “The Many Faces Of Joey Negro” released under Z Records. In 2007 a remix from Timwriter’s track “Space For Lovers” was made and it can be found on his album “Resensed Part One” and many many more. In 2006 Meri and Julm founded their own label – ROTD Recordings. The first release was their debut album – Next Evolution. It featured collaborations with Marcel, Bryan Chambers, Capitol A and several other artists. In July 2008, the second studio album of ROTD – “Ready to Go Overground” – was released in the Baltic States. The album contains Planet Drum the superhit and many more good tracks to follow Planet Drum in the charts. Moreover, a full one hour DJ mix of Rulers of the Deep own labels ROTD Recordings best releases within the last two years. Rulers of the Deep were also nominated in MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 with their mega hit Planet Drum in the category of Best Baltic Act. Planet Drum was released globally by Peppermint Jam. In April 2009 came out the Rulers of The Deep & Pierre Ravan single “Look Inside” from Peppermint Jam with loads of positive feedback from DJs all over the world (check out the write-ins at http://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cr=titles&cv=31933). In October 2009 was released ROTD album “Untold Secret” under MUM Recordings. Singel “Last Survivor” from the album reached No 17 in Cool Cuts top 20 and No 1 in DJ Mag Dancefloor Destroyers Chart. This February came out the second single from the album – “Track Three’” it already has Recommended Release in the JUNO Newsletter and huge support on this inc., from Lucien Foort, Nick Warren, Ted Patterson, Christian Hornbostel, Rob Davy/Mutiny, Tim Sheridan… Besides production and dj-ing across the world, DJ Meri and P. Julm host the Saturday night 2 hour mix-show “Tallinn Express” on the national station Radio 2 at 19:00. The show is also streamed live on the net via www.r2.ee. Using the same brand, “Tallinn Express”, DJ Meri and P. Julm also run a monthly club night at Von Krahl Theatre and different dates in other clubs. Associated videos: |
