Talented, versatile and angelic: Cozi Costi is the proven and established songwriter and vocalist behind a string of pop and dance crossover tracks. Taking wide ranging influence from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald and Curtis Mayfield through to Jose Gonzales and Massive Attack via Prince, Sade and Annie Lennox, Cozi is widely recognized for her sensitive but strong pop writing and beautiful delivery.
After being discovered and initially managed by Jamiroquai, Cozi has co-written with a host of the industry’s most proven artists, as well as a number of underground acts, on both independent and major labels. She co-wrote ‘Naughty Girl’ which was a chart hit for Holly Valance. ‘Naughty Girl’ peaked at 3 on the Australian ARIA chart and 16 on the UK singles chart as well as her album went into top 10. Other artists she has written alongside include names such as; Carl Ryden, Booty Luv, Alex Gaudino, Shazney Lewis, Nina Woodford, Melanie Blatt, Mike Polo, Sucker DJs, Eddie Thoneick, Jerry Ropero, Random Music, ElectroVamp, Ian Mack, Sunfreakz, Lil’ Love, Junior Caldera, Lucas Secon, Beatchuggers and Max Reich (Glider/Fused/Shapeshifters).
In 2007, Cozi has had her highest profile year to date as collaborations with Sucker DJs, Sunfreaks and David Guetta have all been released to widespread success. ‘Fireworks’ (Sucker DJs) was released on Toolroom Records in early 2007 and was a Buzz Chart 1 track. Featuring a topline co-written by Cozi and performed by Tiger Lily, ‘Fireworks’ gained heavy support from the likes of Pete Tong, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Funkagenga… Cozi also co-wrote the lyrics for ‘Counting Down The Days’ by the Sunfreakz, Originally released on OXYD in 2006, ‘Counting Down The Days’ received the full remix treatment from Axwell, Funkagenda and Fonzerelli and was released in July on Positiva: it subsequently peaked 37 in the UK sales charts not to mention all the top 10 placements around the world in he club charts.
Cozi’s latest collaboration with David Guetta on ‘Baby When The Light’ is on his ‘Poplife’ LP, which gained Cozi further chart success. It was written by Cathy Dennis and performed by Cozi. ‘Baby When The Light’ is the opening track on ‘Poplife’ and is the 2nd single release from the LP. Featuring a sublimely emotional and fragile vocal performance, ‘Baby When The Light’ is most definitely set for major things! Additionally, Cozi has recently been working with Phonjaxx on material forthcoming on Alphabeat City/Ultra Records/Positiva as well as with Jerry Ropero on material there also will be released on Positiva.
Currently Cozi is firmly focused on her work in the studio; co-writing and performing alongside a range of the talented artists and producers and developing her own project which is set for release in spring 2009, as well as performing live alongside David Guetta across the world. Her latest track titled The Storm by Jerry Ropero has already seen heavy support from names such as; Tiesto, Pete Tong, Axwell and many more…watch this space.
